Welcome to the education website and affiliated digital platforms (“Platforms”) of Hong Kong Economic Journal Company Limited ("Company "). The Platforms are owned and operated by the Company. Use of various services on the Platform is governed by the terms and conditions set out in this Privacy Policy Statement.

The Company is committed to protecting your personal data privacy in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap 486) (“the Ordinance”) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of Peoples’ Republic of China and internationally recognized standards of personal data privacy protection.

In order for the Company to provide services to the users, it is necessary for our users to supply the Company with personal data during the subscription process. Personal data collected by the Company includes but is not limited to the following: name of user, e-mail address, contact address, contact telephone number, credit card or bank account details for payment of subscription fees etc. During your visit to the Platforms, specific information might be gathered automatically. This includes your IP address, location data, browser type, operating system, device specifics, referring URLs, pages visited, and the duration of your visit. This data is gathered through cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies. The information is only used for analyzing your preference in relation to the services we provide and will not be provided to any third parties.

3. Data Security

Once the Company has obtained your personal data, they will be encrypted and maintained securely in our system. Only authorized staff of the Company, who have been properly trained, will be permitted to access to those personal data. The Company will also ensure compliance by our staff with the strictest standards of security and confidentiality.

The main purposes for which personal data may be used by the Company are:
a. processing of the subscription for our services and termination thereof;
b. incorporating into our user database;

d. the daily operation for provision of our services;

g. distribution of latest information and correspondence;
h. to promote or direct marketing of the latest offers and privileges from all the publications, websites, services, seminars, events of the Company, including subscription renewal offer etc.;
i. to make disclosure as required under any law binding on the Company;

Your personal data held by the Company will be kept confidential but the Company may provide such information to:
a. banks in connection with payment of relevant fees;
b. any professional personnel, agent, adviser, auditor, contractor or service provider who provides services or advice to us in connection with our operations;

d. person to whom we are required to make disclosure under applicable laws, governmental or regulatory requirements or pursuant to any order of a court of a competent jurisdiction.

Please note that the privacy protection set out in this Privacy Statement does not apply to personal data already passed to third parties and the Company shall not be responsible for the protection of such personal data or neglect thereof by any such third parties.

6. Use of Personal Data for Direct Marketing

The Company may from time to time post or deliver to you direct marketing materials mentioned in Clause 4 based on your personal data provided to us. If you do not want to receive those direct marketing materials, please advise our Personal Data Protection Officer by writing or by e-mail to [email protected].

7. Access and Correction of Personal Data

The Ordinance provides you the rights to ascertain whether the Company is holding your personal data and to correct any data that is inaccurate and not up to date. You may contact on Personal Data Protection Office in writing or by email to [email protected] for access and correction to your personal data.

8. Other

In case there arises a discrepancy in the English and Chinese versions, the English version shall prevail.
